“I have lived in Coastal cities all my life and so I am personally concerned at the effect of sea level rise on the places I live and love. A rise in average sea levels of 2 metres will see the homes of 200 million people under water. Shanghai, Tokyo and Miami would be seriously at risk of becoming unlivable not to mention the regular flooding of most other coastal cities. In addition many of our cities are sinking due to the extraction of groundwater and geological factors. We have all seen the additional effect of storm surges in places like New Orleans.“
